Thanks for stopping by!

I have always been fascinated by airplanes and back when I was 21, I earned my private pilot’s license in Canada in the early 90’s. I did this as a part of pursuing my dreams of a career in the Canadian military as an F-18 pilot.

Unfortunately, those dreams were cut short by military budget cuts – and my path towards my goal came to an abrupt end.

It was a sad day.

Back in my 20s, I didn’t pursue a career as an airline pilot because training costs were too high and wages were too low.

Over the next 30 years, I instead chose the path of an entrepreneur and I have founded and sold several companies along the way, as well as being the host of the (now retired) Bright Ideas podcast.

In April of 2023, with the support of my amazing wife, I made the decision to start career 2.0 and return to my love of aviation.

I’m now in the process of divesting my business interests and have enrolled in a part 61 flight school full time.

My goal is to get my Instrument, Commercial, CFI, CFII, Multi-engine, and MEI certificates all by the end of summer 2023. Goal achieved on Aug 6, 2023

Certifications & Ratings

  1. May 29, 2023 – Got my FAA Private Pilot License (I had a Canadian PPL with 100 hours that I got back in the 90s)
  2. June 20. 2023 – Earned my Instrument rating
  3. July 10, 2023 – Earned my Commercial Pilot’s License
  4. July 25, 2023 – Became a CFI
  5. July 28,2023 – Earned my multi-engine rating
  6. Aug 3, 2023 – Earned my CFII
  7. Aug 6, 2023 – Will have my MEI

Now that I have all these ratings, I get to put all sorts of letters behind my name 🤣
